This set – up is designed to study of SCR based Morgan Chopper Trainer. It has builtin Trigger Source, SCR chopping device with commutation circuit, unregulated DC power supply for the set – up. The circuitry is represented in block diagrams printed upon front panel with sockets for observation and measurement of signals. Description of blocks is follows :
1.1. VB (THE DC SUPPLY) :
A full wave rectified and filtered DC supply furnish input source. The DC supply is unregulated and swings from a peak value of 100, Volts to 120, Volts depends upon line input and load voltage.
1.2. THE TRIGGER SOURCE :
The rate of chopping depends upon the rate of switching pulses. The provided oscillator is a self triggered ring counter type which generate on and off timing pulses. The wide adjustment varied through VR, front panel controls.
1.3. THE CHOPPER CIRCUIT :
The silicone controlled rectifier is used as chopping device. The SCR is get turn 'ON' by small duration differentiated pulse and remain 'ON' till it is 'OFF' by LC Commutation circuit. The 'ON' and 'OFF' time is controlled by trigger source.
EXPERIMENTS:
To study the S.C.R. Morgan Chopper operation, controlling Lamp Load.
